A food bank is a non-profitable organization that gives non-perishable food to people in need.
- People who have food accessibility donate canned goods and other non-perishable goods to a food bank allowing them to supply it to a person and their family in need.
- Food banks are opened all across the world in hope that they can help people who aren’t getting their dietary requirements. They are located all over Australia, Europe and the U.S showing us that food insecurity is not just a problem that affects second world countries.
- Locally there is organizations such as Food Fight who support supermarkets where they hold events raising awareness for food insecurity across Australia. When certain products are bought from Woolworths a food donation goes to foodbank. As well as holding events to raise awareness Food Fight also uses social media to get the message across to people.
